The imposing decorative frontage and truly stunning interior of the Shaftesbury Theatre are designed to delight. The final theatre to be built on Shaftesbury Avenue and originally called the Princes Theatre, it set out to host melodrama, which was extremely fashionable at the time. The building was designed by the talented Victorian architect Bertie Crewe and was billed as flamboyant even then, in the early 1900s when high décor was the norm. After many years of success, in spring 2007 the venue struck a deal with Stage Entertainment and enjoyed a smash hit run of the well-loved musical Fame. The Tony Award-winning Hairspray took the stage in late ’07 to critical acclaim. The dance show Burn the Floor made a huge splash, followed by Flashdance The Musical, Derren Brown and Rock of Ages. Shaftesbury Theatre tickets have always been hot property and they remain so. Buy yours here and join the crowds for an experience you’ll never forget!
